Gender and Child Protection

Gender and Child Protection is responsible for the prevention, investigation and response to gender-based violence and  safeguarding the rights, welfare and safety of children.

These include:

  • Domestic violence
  • Sexual offences, including rape and sexual assault
  • Harmful cultural practices
  • Human trafficking (gender-related cases)
  • Sexual harassment and exploitation
  • Community sensitization and prevention programmes on violence against children
  • Capacity building of police officers and other law enforcement agencies
  • Child abuse and neglect
  • Defilement and child sexual exploitation
  • Child trafficking
  • Child labour
  • Children in conflict with the law
  • Missing and separated children
  • Data management of GBV cases
