Mandate

The College shall train staff to the highest possible standards of competence and integrity and to respect human right and dignity as provided for under Article 244 (d) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

Functions:

• Training of Recruits
• Training of Police officers attending promotional courses
• Training of Police officers attending performance enhancement courses
• Follow -up programs (post training evaluation)
• Setting and marking of Gazetted Officers Examinations
• Setting and marking of Police Law Examination
• Setting and marking of Service English Literacy Examination
• Development of training curriculum
• Evaluation of training programmes and syllabi.
• To offer police science programs in collaboration with institutions of higher learning;
• To run rehabilitation programmes for police officers
• To establish, manage and utilize the existing satellite training centres in the counties for use by the Service

• To research on policing techniques.
• To initiate the development and evaluation of a training curriculum.
• To incorporate all contemporary technologies in policing
• Provide senior officers leadership and command training.
• To set senior staff in-service trainees examinations.
• To undertake research on policing matters
• To run rehabilitation programmes for police officers

The Unit is established to support the following functions of the Kenya Police Service in accordance with Section 24 of the National Police Service Act, 2011.

•    Providing security to his Excellency the President, state houses / lodges.
•    Providing security for selected foreign Airlines.
•    Providing security to vital installations and strategic points.
•    Controlling rioters’ mobs and civil disturbance.
•    Carrying out anti-poaching operations and escort duties.
•    Containing banditry and cattle rustling.
•    Countering terrorism activities and insurgencies.

The Unit is established to support the following functions of the Kenya Police Service in accordance with Section 24 of the National Police Service Act, 2011.

•  Preventing and detecting crimes, inquiries into offences against property and persons within the three airports.
• Investigating claims, complaints and irregularities in conveyance of goods and passengers, lost and found property and missing goods within the airports;
• Safeguarding Airlines and private aircrafts parked within the apron area of the airports;
• Maintaining law and order, crowd control and undertaking security duties in accordance with the recommended and established standards of civil aviation security;
• Checking passengers and luggage before boarding or loading onto aircrafts;
• Controlling all entry points into the restricted areas;
• Escorting valuables, explosives, arms and ammunition, wanted and extradited persons;
• Investigating accidents within airports;
• Guarding and protecting vital installations within airports
• Guarding Very Important Persons facilities; and
• Generally ensuring security and coverage within the airports

The Unit is established to support the following functions of the Kenya Police Service in accordance with Section 24 of the National Police Service Act, 2011.

• To provide security and protection to the President.
• To provide security to the First Family.
• Provide security to the retired Presidents
• To provide security and protection to the Deputy President.
• Provide security to visiting Heads of State and Governments.
• Provide Security to any other V.I.P. as may be directed by the Inspector-General   

The Unit is established to support the following functions of the Kenya Police Service in accordance with Section 24 of the National Police Service Act, 2011.

• Provision security and ensuring safety and welfare of tourists;
• Detection and investigation of tourists related crimes;
• Assist in the prosecution of offenders;
• Address claims and complaints by tourists and assist tourists in need of help;
• Patrolling beaches, hotels and other tourist facilities including tourist circuit roads;
• Provision of escorts to tourists;
• Protect of tourists from any form of harassment; and
• Generally advice and guide tourists.
  
  

The Unit is established to support the following functions of the Kenya Police Service in accordance with Section 24 of the National Police Service Act, 2011.

• Providing specialized security for Diplomats
• Liaising with Diplomatic missions on security matters
• Coordinating all rapid responses
• Providing static and mobile security for Diplomatic missions
• Providing  foot and mobile security patrols
• Ensuring traffic control/Accidents Investigation.
• Providing static guards to diplomatic facilities.

The Unit is established to support the following functions of the Kenya Police Service in accordance with Section 24 of the National Police Service Act, 2011.

• Prevention and detection of crimes;
• Ensuring safety and security of railways property and persons conveyed over railways;
• Investigation into offences related to property or person conveyed over railways;
• Inquiries into rail-related accidents; and
• Provision of escort duties in connection with transit of goods by rail
  
  

The Unit is established to support the following functions of the Kenya Police Service in accordance with Section 24 of the National Police Service Act, 2011.

• Care and maintenance of police dogs
• Procuring and breeding police dog.
• Training of police dogs and dog handlers.
• Deploying officers and police dogs for crime detection and prevention
• Detecting and preventing crime by use of police dogs.

• Ensuring of free flow of traffic
• Prevention of Road Accidents
• Investigation of Accidents
• Enforcement of all Laws, Rules and Regulations with which the department is charged.
• Initiate road safety sensitization to the members of the public.

Establishment and constitution of the Air Wing. 
Pursuant to section 10 (h) and (r) of the National Police Service Act 2011, there is established the National Police Service Air Wing Unit consisting of the Director and such number of officers as may be assigned to the Unit.

Command of the Unit
The National Police Service Air Wing shall be headed by a Director who shall be subject to the command and control of the Inspector-General.

Functions of the National Police Service Air wing.
The Unit shall provide aerial support to the National Police Service, facilitate  Government flights, transportation and protection of Very Important Persons.

The Unit shall also be responsible for: 
•    Facilitating all forms of security related aerial work by government agencies including observation, patrol, photography, aerial survey, dropping of supplies and security equipment, and search and rescue;
•    Providing aerial reconnaissance;
•    Providing communication flights;
•    Rendering support to other government agencies;
•    Facilitating crime detection and prevention;
•    Transportation of security personnel;
•    Protection and security of Very Important Persons;
•    Casualty evacuation;
•    Assistance to victims of disasters;
•    Crowd control and dispersal;
•    Air traffic control;
•    Anti-poaching flights; and
•    Any other functions as exigency may require.
